Governor Ivey yesterday signed Act 2026-203, a copy of which can be found here.  The bill triples the homestead exemption for persons aged 62 and up or who have been determined to be disabled.  Exemptions for other people are not changed (including the CPI increases since 2015).  The bill also establishes the petition date as the time for determining exemptions for bankruptcy debtors.  State representative Chris Pringle sponsored the bill and Mobile lawyer Vallee Connor was a moving force behind it.
