Effective January 1, 2019, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Alabama changed its case number system to distinguish between its two divisions and to utilize unique numbers for bankruptcy, adversary, and miscellaneous cases.
Southern Division (Mobile) case numbers start with a “1.”
Northern Division (Selma) case numbers start with a “2.”
Bankruptcy cases have 5 digits.
Adversary proceedings have 4 digits.
Miscellaneous proceedings have 3 digits.
