Corrected-Updated-United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama Public Notice

Beginning September 1, 2009, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama will require member re-admission. Members of the bar of the Southern District of Alabama must be re-admitted every five years. This requirement does not apply to Pro Hac Vice attorneys, or attorneys in federal agencies. Members whose admission date is greater than five years shall electronically submit to the Clerk a statement respecting their eligibility to remain as members of the bar in good standing, together with the renewal fee prescribed by the court ($50.00). This requirement will be accomplished by logging into the District court's CM/ECF system and using the Attorney Re-admission event in CM/ECF. The miscellaneous case number used each year will be in the following format, (year-casetype-number, i.e. 09-mc-3000, 10-mc-3000, 11-mc-3000). Payment will be made online by credit card. Attorney's failing to submit such statement and renewal fee within 60 days from the date due shall cease to be members in good standing until such statement and renewal fee are submitted.

Bankruptcy Court Comments:
To practice in the Bankruptcy Court, you must be admitted and in good standing with the District Court. Remember that the readmission is done with the District Court.
